Chester County Day

The last fun thing I was able to do on our week long vacation home was to attend Chester County Day with my mom and aunt.  If you don't know what Chester County Day is, you should definitely look into it! Chester County Day  It is a fundraiser for the Chester County Hospital where people buy tickets to tour designated historic homes in the area.  They ask different homeowners every year and in a different area of the county, so if like us, you attend Chester County Day pretty much every year you get to see different homes every year.  Once you buy your ticket, you get a map of all the participating homes (there are usually about 35) and then you can pick and choose where you want to go.  We are seasoned champs and saw more than 10 before 2pm (I had to leave early), my mom and Aunt Sue kept going when I left.  I am not sure how many they ended up seeing!

I love Chester County Day, who doesn't want a chance to look at gorgeous, historic million dollar homes (some multiple millions)?  I also want to live in a historic house some day, so I consider it a great way to figure out what I like and don't like about restored older homes.  For the homeowner's privacy you are not allowed to take photos inside the homes, so here are a few exterior shots of my favorite houses.
What a view!  Having a lot of land is a requirement of Kevin's, so I was trying to take pictures of the land too.
This one had a pond and a barn too:
This next one was my favorite of the day, complete with a gorgeous restored barn that they moved from Pittsburgh!  The front porch was my favorite part of the house:

This next house is for sale!  So if you have oh about $6 million lying around ... the previous owner was a Chester County Art Collector, so he had sculptures like those at Brandywine River Museum:

A lot of the houses had actual gas lanterns on the front.  I loved them, and took a picture of this one to remember.  Sorry for the creepy reflection.
This one is for sale too, it was one of my favorites but is in the middle of a development.  So if you want a historic house and community living, here you go.  I was a fan of the front porch on this one too.

This last one was originally the barn on the property of the previous house (above).  It is now someone's home.  They did a fantastic job restoring it, and it's gorgeous inside.  I realized that my favorite house last year was a restored barn as well, so now I am thinking that I might look into barn living for my dream home..... Someday :)
In addition to seeing all these lovely homes, I also had a great day spending time with my mom and Aunt Sue.  Can't wait until next year's Chester County Day.
